Gregory So visits Yau Tsim Mong District

July 26, 2013
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So visited Yau Tsim Mong District today.

He inspected Yau Ma Tei Theatre and the adjacent Red Brick Building, which are historic buildings revitalised as performing arts venues for Chinese opera and nurturing talent.

He visited a carpenter's shop with nearly 50 years of history. Mr So admired the owner's creativity in reusing unwanted wood from old vessels to produce products for his business and its global export network.

Mr So then visited a social enterprise jointly operated by New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and a renowned local artist. The creative concept store is furnished with "red-white-blue" materials and operates under the theme "Positive Hong Kong" to promote positive thinking and healthy living. He said he is glad to learn the shop has won wide recognition and support from the community.

He concluded the visit by meeting with Yau Tsim Mong District Council members to discuss local issues.
