Former SJ's new job approved

November 09, 2012
The Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives & Politically Appointed Officials has endorsed the proposed employment of former Secretary for Justice Wong Yan Lung and former Political Assistant to the Secretary for Food & Health Chan Chi-yuen.

After leaving the Government last July, Mr Wong proposed taking up barrister's practice, while Mr Chan wants to become the director of a public relations consultancy company and a travel service company.

The committee did not anticipate adverse public reaction or public perception problems arising from the proposed jobs.

The committee considered the cases based on information provided by the former politically appointed officials, assessments by government bureaus or offices, and the criteria for advice as stipulated in the guidance note on post-office employment for politically appointed officials.
