Poll cards sent to electors

August 30, 2012
The Registration & Electoral Office has mailed 2012 Legislative Council Election poll cards to 3.46 million registered electors to inform them of where they should cast their vote on polling day.

Electors can only vote at their designated polling station as specified on their poll card. They can call the election hotline, 2891 1001, if they have not yet received their poll card.

Media reports suggest that some people received poll cards sent to electors not residing in their flats. Recipients are urged to return such poll cards to the electoral office as soon as possible, or report it on the election hotline.

Past cases of wrongly delivered poll cards occurred mainly because electors did not update their addresses in time after they moved home. False registration of address was generally not involved.

This time every elector will have one vote for a geographical constituency and one for a functional constituency. About 3.22 geographical constituency electors can cast one vote each in their respective geographical constituency and the newly created District Council (second) functional constituency.

Information about the election is available on the election website.
