District visit:  Chief Secretary Carrie Lam visits the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association's Wellness Centre in Tin Chak Estate.

Gov't notes public views: CS

August 01, 2012
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says the Government will keep public views in mind when formulating and implementing policies, to put public services to better use.

Visiting Tin Shui Wai today, she said the Chief Executive has reiterated that "nothing about people's livelihoods is trivial".

"My colleagues and I are therefore very glad we came to Tin Shui Wai to visit different social service organisations to further our understanding of local residents' livelihoods by listening to their views on different areas, such as employment, family support, and community services."

Accompanying Mrs Lam were Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung, Executive Council non-official members, and Commission on Poverty Preparatory Task Force members.

They visited the Labour Department’s Employment in One-stop facility and the Tin Shui Wai (North) Integrated Family Service Centre operated by International Social Service Hong Kong Branch.

They also visited the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association's Wellness Centre, Hong Kong's first integrated community centre for mental health. They met with rehabilitated people and their families, and noted their views on different problems in daily life.

They later toured a hawker pitch and the Tin Yan Estate Market with District Officer (Yuen Long) Yeung Tak-keung. The pitch is managed by the Housing Authority.
