Gov’t accepts LegCo ruling
May 17, 2012
Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam says the Government fully respects Legislative Council President Jasper Tsang’s decision to end the debate on the replacement mechanism bill.
Speaking to the media today, Mr Tam said under the council’s Rules of Procedures, it is for the LegCo President to run the meetings in accordance with the rules.
He said the Legislative Council (Amendment) Bill 2012 has entered into a new stage and it may take several days to handle the 1,300 amendments.
Mr Tam said the Government is determined to resolve the outstanding work to be done in LegCo for the current-term Government.
