Raymond Tam asks electors to vote

March 25, 2012
Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam has called on electors to cast their votes in the Chief Executive Election, to choose a leader who will guide Hong Kong through political, economic and social challenges in the next five years.

Mr Tam said the Hong Kong Government and the Central Government have developed and maintained a constructive working relationship with the principles of "One Country, Two Systems", "a high degree of autonomy" and "Hong Kong people running Hong Kong" since the reunification. He said Hong Kong will be governed under these principles in the future.

Speaking to the media after inspecting the polling station today, Mr Tam said the election preparations are well done. He called on electors to comply with election regulations.

Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission Barnabus Fung also inspected the polling station. He noted that according to the law, no-one can communicate to anybody any information obtained in a polling station as to which candidate an elector has voted for.
