Gov't following up arrest case: Ambrose Lee
*

The Government is highly concerned with cases involving Hong Kong residents being arrested or detained by Mainland or overseas law enforcement agencies, and will follow up on such cases, Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says.

The Democratic Party said last night that party member and Legislative Council elections candidate Ho Wai-to was arrested last week by public security officers in Dongguan and is still being detained.

Speaking to the media at the Central Government Offices today, Mr Lee said the Government is pursuing Ho's case.

The Immigration Department's Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit has been taking follow-up action and is seeking more information on Ho's case.

Assistance will also be offered when necessary, Mr Lee said, adding that Hong Kong people should respect and abide by laws when traveling or working overseas.
