$2.1m in suspected smuggled goods seized
*

Customs officers have seized computer hard disks, video cameras, used mobile phones and other items worth about $2.1 million in a crackdown on smuggling in Sai Kung.

At about 11pm yesterday, Special Task Force officers spotted a van and private car parked at the seashore in Pak Min Kok. About 10 men were moving goods from the van to a speedboat alongside the seashore.

Officers seized 1,500 computer hard disks, 734 digital video cameras and 2,314 used mobile phones in 82 cartons, as well as the van and private car.

No one was arrested. The case is under investigation.

Anyone who sees suspected smuggling activities is urged to call the Customs hotline,  2545 6182.
