Full support: Chief Executive Donald Tsang visits injured hijack victim Joe Chan at Prince of Wales Hospital.
*

Chief Executive Donald Tsang visited injured hijack victim Joe Chan tonight and promised the Government will render full medical assistance to follow up on his injuries.

Accompanied by Under Secretary for Food & Health Professor Gabriel Leung and Hospital Authority senior management, Mr Tsang arrived at Prince of Wales Hospital soon after Mr Chan arrived from Manila.

Mr Chan underwent an operation for a gunshot injury to his wrists in a Manila hospital. Another injured victim Yik Siu-ling had an operation for a gunshot to her chin and will return later tonight on a medical flight.

Mr Tsang said Mr Chan will have more surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital soon and full medical support will be offered to Miss Yik when she returns.

Meanwhile, a neurosurgery expert from Tuen Mun Hospital has arrived in Manila to evaluate another injured victim Jason Leung's condition. He is now under observation after an operation on his head.

Prof Leung said they will consider sending a medical flight to Manila to bring him back soon.
