The Immigration Department will simplify the stay extension application procedure for foreign domestic helpers sponsored by the same employer, from July 12.

Applications can be submitted within eight weeks of the expiry of the helper's limit of stay, instead of four. This will give applicants greater flexibility in timing their application submissions.

Applications can also be made by post, by hand or online.

Applicants will normally be notified by post within 10 working days upon receipt of all necessary documents, to collect their extension label.

A copy of the old employment contract and of the helper's Hong Kong identity card, plus proof of the employer's financial position and residential address, will no longer be needed.
