Gov't happy with drug-test response
*

Under Secretary for Security Lai Tung-kwok says the Government is satisfied with the positive response from the 12,000-plus students and their parents who have agreed to participate in the Tai Po school drug-testing trial.

Noting 61% of students in the district have given consent, Mr Lai today told reporters the Government had no target participation rate when it formulated the scheme.

Thanking the students who agreed to join, Mr Lai said they will help convey anti-drug messages to their peers despite experiencing inconvenience during the testing process.

He urged those who have not joined the scheme to watch the scheme's progress and consider joining.

Noting the trial will be launched this month, Mr Lai said drug-testing dates will not be announced for confidentiality reasons.
