HK-Macau immigration clearance streamlined
*
Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan & John Tsang

Done deal: Macau Secretary for Administration & Justice Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan and Hong Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang sign a memorandum streamlining immigration clearance.

*

Immigration clearance will be simplified for Hong Kong and Macau residents from December 10. The deal was verified in a memorandum signed by Financial Secretary John Tsang and Macau Secretary for Administration & Justice Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan today.

It was agreed holders of valid Hong Kong permanent identity cards or Hong Kong identity cards containing the '*', '***' or 'R' symbol can continue using their IDs to travel to Macau but they do not need to furnish arrival and departure cards.

Hong Kong residents under 11 years old should carry other identification documents with a photograph, issued by the Director of Immigration as supporting proof of identity along with their ID card.

Hong Kong people can also enrol to use Macau's automated passenger clearance system using their Hong Kong ID cards at kiosks in the Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui.
