$1.15m pirated discs seized, 6 arrested
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs have seized 21,000 pirated optical discs worth $1.15 million, arresting six people.

Following a week-long investigation with the help of the Motion Picture Asocation, Customs officers raided four retail shops selling discs purported to be parallel-imported copies in Mong Kok and Causeway Bay yesterday.

They arrested five men and a woman, aged 20 to 59.

Most of the seized discs were imported from the Mainland and were deliberately packaged as parallel-import copies for sale at $35 to $70 a copy.
