Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee has visited Tuen Mun to learn more about the district's law and order situation and residents' concerns.
Mr Lee visited Stewards Ma Kam Ming Charitable Foundation Ma Ko Pan Memorial College where he was briefed on an Internet-based network to enhance communication among Police and schools.
The network, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, is an initiative introduced by the Police and Lingnan University's Information Technology Services Centre.
It disseminates information on crime prevention and youth activities, providing a fast, convenient and efficient communication platform for the Police, school principals, discipline masters and students.
"It is encouraging to see that the communication network has been welcomed by students, with a record 11,000 visits since its inception in June last year," Mr Lee said.
Mr Lee then proceeded to the Hong Kong YWCA Jockey Club Butterfly Bay Integrated Social Service Centre at Butterfly Estate. The centre provides guidance, counselling and support services for young people and children.
Earlier, the secretary went to a Fu Tai Estate rooftop for a panoramic view of the Deep Bay Link project in Tuen Mun. He was briefed on the latest progress of the project as well as local traffic and transport concerns.
