Hong Kong Police

A 76-year-old woman died two days after she was found seriously injured in her Kwai Chung home on August 6. Police have reclassified the case as murder and arrested her 48-year-old son.

At about 12.35 pm on August 6, police received a report from the man that his mother had sustained injuries at their home in Lok Yiu House, Lai Yiu Estate.

Police officers found the woman with serious injuries to her head and body. The man was suspected of pouring a pot of boiling water on his mother.

The woman was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital and was later transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital where she was certified dead just after midnight today.

Police arrested the man, who is now receiving treatment in Kwai Chung Hospital.

A post-mortem on the mother will be conducted later.

The Kwai Tsing District Crime Squad has taken over the case.
