Authority respects court's refusal to lift stay

*
Housing Department

The Housing Authority says it respects today's Court of Appeal decision not to lift a 42-day statutory stay of a judidicial review imposed as a result of the applicant's application for legal aid.

The authority will closely monitor progress and consult its advisers with a view to re-launching The Link Real Estate Investment Trust as soon as practicable.

At the court hearing today, it was noted that the Legal Aid Department is considering whether to maintain its decision on legal aid based on new information the applicant provided.

The Legal Aid Department will make its decision soon.

The 42-day statutory stay was imposed when the applicant sought legal aid on January 3 to lodge her appeal on the judicial review case at the Court of Final Appeal. That stay will come to an end on February 14.
