Record drug seizure made

Police have seized $6.6 million worth of erimin 5, the largest seizure of its kind on record.

 

Officers found 28 bags containing 51,000 erimin 5 tablets and 28,000 ecstasy tablets in a flat on Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei, yesterday.

 

The haul was discovered soon after a man, 22, and a woman, 20, believed to be key members of a trafficking syndicate, were intercepted when leaving a residential building on Ash Street, Mong Kok.

 

Two plastic bags containing 30gs of ketamine were found in the woman's possession and another 5.5kgs of ketamine, 1.5kgs of ice, 1,700 ecstasy tablets, and 20,000 erimin 5 tablets were found in their flat.

 

In a separate operation, Police also arrested two Ghanaian men, 25 and 26, in a hotel on Waterloo Road, Yau Ma Tei, after one was found with a bag containing 2.2kgs of heroin worth about $770,000.

 

The four were charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs.
