AV shop salesman charged with attempted fraud

Hong Kong Police

Police have charged a 40-year-old man with attempted fraud for deceiving a British tourist couple.

Patrolling plain-clothes Police officers arrested the man on May 1. He was found inducing the couple to pay $11,500 - almost twice the market price - to buy a digital camera in an audio-visual shop in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The man was released on $5,000 bail and will appear at Kowloon City Magistrates' Court on June 25. Police will make arrangements for the British couple to return to testify in court.
