10 suspected robbery syndicate members arrested

*
Hong Kong Police

Police have arrested 10 suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate in Kowloon East.

Organised Crime & Triad Bureau officers started the operation yesterday afternoon, raiding several huts on Chuen Yuen Road in Lei Yue Mun where they apprehended two local men and one male illegal immigrant.

One gun, six rounds of ammunition, an air pistol, two machetes and some fake identity documents were found.

More Kowloon East locations were later raided and four more men, two women and a 14-year-old male were also arrested. An axe, two hammers and 12 pairs of labour gloves were also seized.

Investigations indicate the syndicate might be related to armed robberies at HK Jockey Club off-course betting centres.

The 14-year-old has been released on bail while the others, aged 31 to 48, are still being detained for enquiries.
