Hong Kong athletes snatched five more medals, including two gold in squash, in today's East Asian Games, raising the medal tally to 10 gold, 15 silver and 23 bronze medals.
Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing congratulated the athletes and said he was proud of them.
The gold medals came from the men's (Au Chun-ming, Kwong Yu-shun, Lau Siu-wai, Lee Ho-yin) and women's (Au Wing-chi, Chan Ho-ling, Chiu Wing-yin, Mak Pui-hin) squash teams.
The swimming women's 4x100 metres freestyle relay team (Au Hoi-shun, Sze Hang-yu, Tsai Hiu-wai, Hannah Wilson) came in second, losing by 1.05 seconds to the Mainland team who won the gold with a time of 3:39.75, the new Games record.
Swimmer Au also won a bronze in the women's 400m freestyle, while the women's badminton team came third (Chan Hung-yung, Chan Tsz-ka, Chau Hoi-wah, Koon Wai-chee, Mong Kwan-yi, Poon Lok-yan, Tse Ying-suet, Wang Chen, Yip Pui-yin, Zhou Mi).
