Development

*
Tseung Kwan O South to be developed
*
Lands Department

Site formation and infrastructure works at Town Centre South and Tiu Keng Leng in Tseung Kwan O were gazetted today.

The Town Centre South area is new reclamation and largely undeveloped, except for housing and two schools in Area 65, while Tiu Keng Leng is partly developed for residential use and schools.

The Feasibility Study on Further Development of Tseung Kwan O completed in December 2005 recommends high quality medium-density commercial and residential developments in the undeveloped areas to accommodate 25,000 people, a civic node with government, institution and community facilities, and open space.

The works, scheduled to start later this year for completion in early 2012 will affect 10.7 hectares of foreshore and seabed south of Tseung Kwan O Town Centre, with the existing box culvert outfall and the associated seawall removed. Marine pile decking, a caisson seawall, seawalls, landing steps and drainage outfalls will be built while the existing drainage channel will be filled up.

People who consider their interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved will be injuriously affected by the undertaking should make claims by writing to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, by May 15, 2010.
