Study system for hillside escalators backed

*

The Transport Advisory Committee has endorsed the establishment of an assessment system on hillside escalator links and elevator systems.

The committee was briefed by the Transport Department today on the establishment of an assessment system that provides a comprehensive set of evaluation criteria in determining the merits and priority of hillside escalator links and elevator systems proposals.

The committee was also updated on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, and the proposed Hong Kong-Shenzhen Airport Rail Link.

"We agree these projects will bring forth substantial transport and economic benefits to Hong Kong, and will also be essential to Hong Kong's sustainable growth. We strongly support their early implementation," Committee Chairman Teresa Cheng said.
