Guidelines on storage applications revised
*

The Town Planning Board has revised the Guidelines for Application for Open Storage and Port Back-up Uses after including 13 site-specific reclassification proposals and textual refinements.

Of the 13 reclassification proposals, 11 sites of about 102 hectares are in the northwest New Territories and two sites of about 4.5 hectares are in the northeast New Territories.

Following the reclassification, the area where applications will normally get favourable consideration increases by about 36 hectares - of which about 35 hectares is in Ha Tsuen - while about 15 more hectares have been rezoned "Green Belt", implying applications will not get favourable consideration.

The guidelines set out the criteria for assessing planning applications for open storage and port back-up uses and preventing them from proliferating into the much wider unspoiled rural area.
