Carrie Lam inspects Yuen Long Nullahs
*
Carrie Lam
Site visit: Secretary for Development Carrie Lam is briefed by Director of Drainage Services Wong Chee-keung on the flood prevention operation of the Yuen Long Nullahs.
*

Secretary for Development Carrie Lam today inspected Yuen Long's nullahs to learn about the district's drainage system and environmental improvement plan.

Constructed in the early 60s the system comprises a main nullah and four branches totalling 10km. It is the main drainage system in Yuen Long.

To further improve the environment and hygiene conditions in the area, the Drainage Services Department has commissioned a consultant to conduct a 20-month feasibility study on the rehabilitation of the nullahs. The consultant will conduct a comprehensive survey on the nullahs' water quality and recommend enhancements.

It is expected that some initial rehabilitation proposals will be recommended by the consultants for further public consultation early next year.
