Over 110 delegates from more than 40 aviation-related organisations are attending the Regional Symposium on the Implementation of Multi-Crew Pilot Licence in Hong Kong.

The two-day event provides a forum for civil aviation administrations and the industry to exchange views and share experience in the implementation of the multi-crew pilot licence requirements.

Speaking at the opening session today, Director-General of Civil Aviation Norman Lo said the establishment of the multi-crew pilot licence will be instrumental in enlarging the professional pilot workforce.

The Civil Aviation Department will work closely with the industry on the implementation of the licence in Hong Kong and will monitor the latest developments in its implementation.

The International Civil Aviation Organisation introduced the new licence in November. It anticipates that a new training programme can be developed so that after pilot candidates complete it they will qualify to operate as co-pilots of multi-crew transport aircraft.
