The trial schemes for taxis and green minibuses entering Lok Ma Chau Control Point during the overnight period have been running smoothly since their midnight launch.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic and passengers, special traffic and transport arrangements have been set up at the control point and the San Tin public transport interchange.
Commissioner for Transport Robert Footman visited the Control Point at midnight to observe its first-day operation.
Under the trial schemes, passengers may take urban or New Territories taxis, or Green Mini Bus 44B or 79S to and from the control point during the extended period overnight.
Taxis carrying passengers can enter the taxi drop-off point but have to leave as soon as passengers have been dropped off. Empty taxis are required to obtain tickets at the taxi holding areas at the transport interchange to enter the control point.
Between midnight and 6.30am, passengers are not required to pay at the transport interchange but should pay a fare of $7 at the boarding point at the control point when boarding again after clearing immigration.
Apart from the overnight period, all northbound passengers have to pay at the transport interchange.
