Hot wheels: Wong Kam-po has won the first gold medal for Hong Kong at the 11th National Games.
*

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing today extended his heartfelt congratulations to Wong Kam-po on winning a gold medal in the men's individual road race cycling event at the 11th National Games in Shandong.

"The outstanding achievement of Mr Wong is the result of his hard work and tenacity over the years. We are all very proud of his excellent performance," Mr Tsang said.

Mr Wong was one of five torchbearers in the games' opening ceremony torch relay to light the main torch on October 16.

He had won two gold and two bronze medals in cycling events in the three previous national games.

The Hong Kong delegation has so far won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the games.
