Lantau North designated as country park
*
Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department

Northern Lantau Island will be designated Hong Kong's 24th country park, covering 2,360 hectares to the north, northeast and east of Lantau North Country Park.

The park stretches from Tai Shan above Penny's Bay in the east, to Tai Ho, Tung Chung and Sham Wat in the west. Most of the area has mountains and upland valleys covered with natural woodland and unspoiled stream courses, having high conservation and landscape value.

Lantau North Country Park is a major conservation proposal in the Revised Concept Plan for Lantau. Footpaths, shelters, tables and benches, information boards and view compasses will be improved and upgraded.

The move will bring Hong Kong's total country park area to 44,000 hectares covering 40% of the city's total land area.
