Housing Authority

The Housing Authority has endorsed its corporate plan for 2008-09, setting out 80 key activities and 15 key performance indicators with initiatives to develop green housing designs and deploy environmentally-friendly materials and construction methods.

It will explore the feasibility of implementing the green roof environmental improvement programme and boost the green living environment in estates. New estates for socio-spatial equity for users of all abilities will also be built.

The authority will upgrade its public housing arrangements and priority schemes, and work with non-government bodies to boost support for the aged. Surplus Home Ownership Scheme flats will be put on sale in an orderly manner.

For commercial properties the authority will draw in private sector experience in trade mix, shopping centre design and marketing promotion to upgrade operation effectiveness and efficiency. A flexible letting strategy will be adopted to raise properties' letting rate.

Members also approved at today's meeting the 2007-08 revised budget and 2008-09 proposed budget, and informed of the financial forecasts for 2009-10 to 2011-12. For details click here.

The authority's finance is sustainable in the short and medium term and it will exercise prudence in financial management to sustain its public housing development programmes.
