The Centre for Health Protection urges people to guard against Dengue fever following the confirmation of an imported case today, the ninth this year.
A 45-year-old Kwun Tong man travelled to the Philippines May 19 to 27. He came down with a fever, headache, muscle pain and dizziness on May 31 and consulted a private doctor on June 2. No hospitalisation was required and he has recovered. His home contacts have no symptoms.
The centre advises citizens and travellers stay alert to the threat of Dengue fever and to take preventive measures. Anyone feeling unwell after a trip should consult a doctor as soon as possible and provide details of their travel.
The latest information on Dengue fever in other places can be found under 'Outbreak News' on the Travel Health Service website.
