Welfare cases dip 0.1%

Social Welfare Department

There were 293,952 social security assistance cases in May, down 0.1% on the previous month, the Social Welfare Department says.

 

Cases involving the sick rose 0.6% to 24,485, while cases involving the elderly fell 0.1% to 152,810.

 

The number of jobless receiving comprehensive social security assistance fell 0.8% to 36,340 cases last month, while those in the low-earnings group fell 0.1% to 17,979.
