Burials, cremations suspended on Feb 18

Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

All services for handling the deceased will be suspended on Lunar New Year's Day, February 18, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says.

 

No coffin will be accepted for burial at public cemeteries and no cremations will be undertaken at public crematoria. No transportation of coffins to public cemeteries will be conducted. All cemeteries and crematorium offices will be closed.

 

Normal cremation services, burial services and transportation of coffins to public cemeteries will be conducted February 17. Following the Lunar New Year's Day suspensions, services will resume February 19.

 

During the Lunar New Year holidays from February 17 to 20, no bodies will be removed by the department from public mortuaries or hospitals. All permit offices and cremation booking offices will also be closed.

 

Normal services will resume February 21.
