The Equestrian Company has received more than 3,600 registrations in its recruitment of volunteers for the Olympic Equestrian and Paralympic Events in 2008.
Speaking at a "lighting-up" ceremony in Tsuen Wan tonight, Equestrian Company Chief Executive Officer WK Lam said about 99% of the applications were received on-line, in line with the spirit of a Green Olympics and High-tech Olympics.
Mr Lam said those who were not selected in the first round could be selected in the following two rounds.
The first batch of 90 to 100 volunteers recruited will become trainer-volunteers who are expected to serve from April next year until September 2008, when the Paralympics are over.
Around 1,800 volunteers must be recruited to serve in the equestrian events in 2008 as well as the test event in August next year.
Applicants can be of any nationality and are required to have the right to enter and stay in Hong Kong during the training and service periods.
Those interested in applying can now register at www.equestrian2008.org. Deadline for applications to become a trainer-volunteer is December 22.
