Restaurateurs are invited to apply for loans to enhance their eateries' hygiene, from August 28.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says the loans can be used for kitchen refurbishment, food preparation rooms, sculleries and toilets, and other related works.

Applicants can borrow up to 40% of the improvement works or $50,000, whichever is lower. They will have to repay the principal and interest in 24 instalments.
