18 family medicine specialty clinics to launch

*
Hospital Authority

Eighteen family medicine specialty clinics will start operation from December 1 to strengthen the service of specialist out-patient clinics and boost the role and function of family medicine.

The clinics will be managed by family medicine specialists and care for patients who require diagnostic or management support from specialists. Their operation is similar to other specialist out-patient clinics. Patients are referred and must make appointments.

Similar to all specialist out-patient clinics, patients attending family medicine specialty clinics are charged $100 and $60 for the first and follow-up attendances, as well as a drug charge of $10 for each item. The charges are applicable to patients who are referred for appointments on and after December 1.

Details of the 18 family medicine specialty clinics are available here.

Phone bookings

A pilot telephone booking system will be implemented in five clinics in the Hong Kong East Cluster from November 29.

The clinics are Anne Black Health Centre (telephone 3157 0055), Sai Wan Ho Health Centre (3157 0066), Shau Kei Wan Jockey Club Clinic (3157 0077), Chai Wan Health Centre (3157 0088) and Wan Tsui Government Clinic (3157 0099).

Patients may call the clinics, input information as instructed and will be given an appointment time and a reference number. The system will operate round the clock.
