More than 120 community leaders today exchanged views in a workshop on the initial findings of the Consultancy Study on the Development of Spa & Resort Facilities.
The Tourism Commission which conducted the workshop said the consultant will take into account the discussion and other views collected by May 7, in finalising the study.
The Government commissioned a consultancy study in July to explore the market demand for spa and resort facilities, and to make recommendations on the provision of such facilities of an international standard in Hong Kong. The study is in progress.
The commission said the Government has no pre-conceived plan on the way forward, how to develop the facilities and where they should be located.
It said any development will take into account environmental implications and ensure sustainability. The public will be consulted again when concrete proposals are available.
The commission has uploaded an Information Note on the consultancy study onto its website and public views are welcome on the initial findings by post: Tourism Commission, 2/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, Lower Albert Road, Hong Kong; fax: 2801 4458 and email: tcenq@edlb.gov.hk.
