Hygiene

*
Jan 10 next poultry outlet rest day
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The next rest day falls on January 10 and live poultry will not be available at retail outlets from noon until the following morning, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says.

Operators of market poultry stalls and fresh provision shops are reminded to slaughter all live poultry remaining on the premises before noon on Monday, and suspend business in the afternoon and evening to carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection.

Poultry retailers are also urged to strictly observe rest day conditions. They should not remove any live poultry from the premises to avoid slaughtering before the start of the rest day.

The department will inspect each poultry outlet on the rest day. Failure to comply with the conditions will lead to immediate cancellation of licences or termination of market stall tenancies.
