Fiery display: A 23-minute fireworks show will light up the sky on January 23.

*

A spectacular fireworks display will light up the sky above Victoria Harbour at 8pm Friday, the second day of the Lunar New Year.

Pyrotechnicians will fire off 16,688 shells from three barges in the 23-minute $5 million show sponsored by the HK New Territories Commercial & Industrial General Association.

A lively, rhythmic display of peony and palm tree patterns, symbolising Hong Kong's energy and vitality, will open the show. Silvery waterfalls cascading from the sky will bring the show to its climax.

To increase your enjoyment, viewers are invited to tune to RTHK Radio 4 (FM 97.6-98.9) for synchronised music.

People are urged to keep public areas clean and to show respect for public property.

The Symphony of Lights show will not take place Friday due to the fireworks display.
