89 HK athletes set for 5th City Games
*

Hong Kong will send a delegation to participate in 13 sports in the 5th City Games to be held in Changsha, Hunan, from October 18 to 27.

The 150-strong delegation will comprise 89 athletes, 34 sports officials, members of the sports community and Government officials.

It will be led by Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho; Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, President Timothy Fok and Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Anissa Wong.

The 13 sports are windsurfing, baseball, cycling, swimming and diving, badminton, rowing, table tennis, tennis, gymnastics, shooting, fencing, athletics and wushu.

Hong Kong windsurfer Chan Wai-man has already won a bronze medal at the windsurfing event held in advance in Dalian earlier this month.

The City Games are held every four years to promote sports development in cities all over China and to identify young talent for the Chinese National Teams.

This is the second time Hong Kong will participate in the City Games. Sixty-eight athletes represented Hong Kong in the 4th City Games in Xian in 1999, winning one silver and one bronze.
