13 summonses issued to wax burners
*

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department issued seven summonses last night - one for illegal hawking and six for wax burning.

This brings to 16 the total number of summonses in the past three days - three for illegal hawking and 13 for wax burning.

The department also issued 2,332 verbal warnings to wax burners and litterers last night. Altogether, 8,580 verbal warnings were issued during the three-day period with one injury case so far.

There were five fixed-penalty tickets of $1,500 issued to littering offenders, bringing to eight the total number issued during the period.

Leisure & Cultural Services staff ran their three-day anti-wax burning and anti-littering operations at their venues from 7pm until midnight from September 10 to 12.

Six reports about wax burning at the department's venues were made through the 24-hour hotline, 2414 5555,  yesterday. This brings to 12 the total number of complaints in the past three days.

The hotline will continue to receive complaints and the department will monitor the situation closely.
