Aberdeen fish stalls to be inspected
*

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will inspect seafood stalls on Aberdeen promenade and collect water samples for testing.

The move follows reports of the trade of live marine fish along the promenade. If cholera is detected, the department will close the concerned premises.

The Health, Welfare & Food Bureau reiterated that the Government will ensure edible live marine fish offered for sale in markets, supermarkets and fresh provision shops is fit for human consumption.

The bureau also said that traders of live fish had made unauthorised use of Government land on the promenade for years.

The administration will give careful consideration to this problem and consult the trade and the local community on the best way forward.
