No new SARS cases, two fatalities

There were no new SARS cases reported in the last 24 hours, marking the 40th day running the number of new cases has remained in single digits.

 

A total of 1,380 patients - more than 78% of the total number of confirmed cases -  have recovered and been discharged from public hospitals. Of them, three were sent home today.

 

Most of the 54 patients currently under active treatment in hospital are responding positively to the new treatment protocol. Of them, 15 are in intensive care.

 

Another 28 patients are recovering in convalescence, in preparation for discharge.  

 

Two women, aged 70 and 73, died, bringing the total number of SARS-related deaths to 293.

 

There is one suspected case.

 

Ten people failed the initial temperature check at boundary checkpoints in the last day. Seven of them were allowed to continue their journey after a second check, while three were sent to hospital for observation.
