Suitable infrared thermal system being identified
*
Department of Health

The Department of Health is identifying a suitable infrared thermal imaging system from overseas, local and Mainland suppliers as well as local tertiary institutions for the detection of travellers with fever.

The successful supplier will be required to provide sufficient machines to meet requirements in terms of specifications, steady supply of spare parts as well as technical and maintenance support.

The department hopes that each checkpoint will be fitted with systems of the same standard and specifications.

Even though some suppliers are able to provide suitable devices, it is not certain they can meet the demand for a large supply within a short time.

Regarding similar devices available on the market, they have so far been produced for industrial purposes.

Suppliers in general do not have the experience of using it for body temperature taking, and the department has to examine carefully the use of the equipment to ensure it meets actual needs.
