Donald Tsang proud of healthcare staff

*

Healthcare workers have been applauded by senior officials for their dedication and professionalism in the atypical pneumonia fight.

Speaking on RTHK's Letter to Hong Kong programme today, Chief Secretary Donald Tsang said he was sad to see health workers suffering from atypical pneumonia as a result of their care and concern for their patients.

Mr Tsang wished a speedy recovery to all hospital staff and patients.

"The incident has caused a great deal of anxiety to the public and our healthcare staff. However, it has proved that we have the world-class talent and equipment needed to deal with health issues," he said.

"It also shows that Hong Kong is a city filled with love and care."

Meanwhile, Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong also expressed his appreciation to health sector workers.

Speaking on radio talk shows today, Dr Yeoh said he fully understood the stress experienced by Prince of Wales Hospital staff and promised to provide more support to healthcare workers.
