No chicken sales on Tuesday

Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department reminds live poultry stall operators and the public that the coming Rest Day will fall on Tuesday, February 25.

On the Rest Day, all market poultry stalls and fresh provision shops selling live poultry must suspend business and carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection in their premises.

The department urges all poultry-stall operators to strictly observe the Rest Day conditions and to ensure that all live poultry remaining in their stalls or shops are slaughtered before the Rest Day.

Stall owners and licensees must not remove any live poultry from their premises to avoid slaughtering of the live poultry that remain just before the Rest Day.

Department officers will inspect each poultry outlet on the Rest Day, and failure to comply with Rest Day conditions will see an immediate cancellation of licences or termination of market stall tenancy.

No live poultry will be on sale in markets on the Rest Day.
