HK Observatory

The Hong Kong Observatory has upgraded its website to include data on the impact of space weather on people's daily lives, and the US National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's latest warnings.

The observatory is following the lead of the World Meteorological Organisation which recently included space weather in its work schedule so proper action can be taken when an extreme space weather event occurs.

Although the impact of adverse space weather should be minimal to Hong Kong, which is located in the low latitudes, the city has close ties with other parts of the world and any problems with satellite systems can lead to telecommunications and navigation problems which can affect Hong Kong and hamper aviation safety.
