Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau signed a deal on the promotion of electric vehicles in Hong Kong with Nissan in Tokyo today.

Under the agreement a group made up of members from both sides will be formed to identify areas of co-operation on expanding the use of electric vehicles in Hong Kong.

Later Mr Yau met Mitsubishi president Osamu Masuko and tried out his company's electric vehicle the iMiEV. Mitsubishi promised to allocate mass production units of iMiEVs to Hong Kong soon.
