Strong monsoon signal in force
*
Tropical storm Vicente
Moving north: Tropical storm Vicente is moving northwest or west-northwest at about 30km per hour, in the direction of northern Vietnam.
*

The strong monsoon signal is in force as tropical storm Vicente and a ridge of high pressure over southeastern China are bringing a strong easterly airstream to the coastal areas of Guangdong.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Tropical Storm signal No 1 at 2:40pm on Saturday. It was cancelled at 7:40 am today.

Expect sunny periods and isolated showers in the next few days.

At 4pm, the centre of tropical storm Vicente was south-southwest of Hong Kong, near 17.8 degrees north and 106.8 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest or west-northwest at about 30km per hour in the general direction of northern Vietnam.

People may call the Home Affairs Department 24-hour Public Enquiry Service Hotline 2835 1473 for more information.
