Water quality at 12 beaches has been rated "good" for this weekend, and two are "fair", according to the Environmental Protection Department's latest grading.
Water quality at Clear Water Bay Second Beach has been upgraded from "fair" to "good".
The other 11 good beaches are Big Wave Bay, Shek O, Chung Hom Kok, South Bay, Deep Water Bay, Stanley Main, Hairpin, St. Stephen's, Middle Bay, Turtle Cove and Repulse Bay.
Golden and Silverstrand are rated fair.
All the above beaches are equipped with shark nets. As beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggest during and after heavy rain, bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality. The public should not to swim at these beaches.
Beach grades are published weekly. The information is available at the department's website or through the beach hotline, 2511 6666.
