Alert issued on fake BOC website
*
Monetary Authority

The Monetary Authority warns consumers of an email purporting to be sent from the Bank of China (HK), which has a hyperlink to a fraudulent website.

The website (accessboc.pcriot.com) asks people to verify their account information by entering their Internet banking account user name and password. It looks similar to the bank's online banking webpage.

The bank has clarified it has not sent the emails and has no connection to the fraudulent site. It said it does not send emails asking customers to provide their passwords or verify their account information online.

Anyone who has provided personal information to the fake website, or who has conducted any financial transactions through it should contact the bank on 2332 3328. They can also report the case to Police on 2860 5012.
